It’s Abba-tastic on-board Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas with the toe-tapping musical, Mamma Mia. There’s nothing sub-standard about this version either: it’s the whole show, complete with the professional singers and dancers you find on Broadway.

Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Cats is now at sea! Found aboard Oasis of the Seas, one of the larger ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet, Cats first opened in London 35 years ago but this is its floating debut. The theatre Cats is staged in is incredible, and thanks to the top-class performers, the fabulous costumes and the haunting music, the experience is parallel to seeing the show on land.

3.      Priscilla Queen of the Desert

The glamourous, fun-filled Priscilla Queen of the Desert is showing on board Norwegian Epic, one of Norwegian Cruise Line’s largest and most family-friendly ships. With over 500 colourful costumes, 200 headdresses and a lineup of dance numbers from the 70s and 80s, this show will be an unmissable part of your Epic cruise holiday.

4.      Saturday Night Fever

Get those dancing shoes on – the uplifting Saturday Night Fever has hit Liberty of the Seas. By day, experience sun, sea and sand as you cruise the Caribbean Sea; by night, experience New York City in the 1970s as it comes alive in Saturday Night Fever.

5.      We Will Rock You

Once you’ve seen We Will Rock You on board Royal Caribbean’s mega-ship Anthem of the Seas, you’ll be singing the catchy songs all holiday long. The show was written by British comedian Ben Elton, and since its London debut it has been an award-winning, record-breaking phenomenon with a score built around 24 Queen songs.

Family favourite musical Grease has set sail aboard Harmony of the Seas and Independence of the Seas. This is an all-new, never-seen-before version with original choreography and special aerial elements, set to impress audiences and send them on their way with a spring in their step.

7.      Tangled: The Musical

Even if you’re a musical fan that’s seen them all, there’s no risk of you seeing this one before – Tangled: The Musical is an original Disney show created especially for guests on board Disney Magic. Based on the hit animated feature film, Tangled features favourite songs from the movie, but also has new music composed by Alan Menken, the musical genius behind the scores of The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast so you can be sure of a magical experience.

Disney Cruise Line naturally offer some of the best shows afloat, they were an entertainment company first, after all. The wonderful tale of Toy Story can be experienced on board Disney Wonder. What makes this show so special is the amazing, giant set – audiences feel that they’ve been shrunken down to the size of a toy to take part in the action as it unfolds.

10.  Rock of Ages
